Are you ready to discover Budapest's most iconic places in one day?

On this tour, I will introduce you to the best-known and most iconic sights of Budapest. This is a longer walking tour, but worth every minute!


1st Stop: St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).
You will visit the impressive Saint Stephen's Basilica built for the memory of the first Hungarian king (died in 1038). It has many statues and frescoes, as well as the mummified right hand of the first king. The church is open every day, except Sunday morning religious service.

2nd Stop: Szabadsag ter.
You will see the dramatic monuments of the Nazi and Soviet occupations and dictatorships as well as the miraculous fountain (during the warm season).

3rd Stop:: Hungarian Parliament Building.
You will admire one of the most impressing parliament buildings of the world with its amazing history.

4th Stop: Kossuth Lajos Square.
You will see the memories of the Hungarian freedom heroes and the 1956 revolution against the Communist dictatorship.

5th Stop: Shoes on the Danube Bank.

6th Stop: Central Market Hall.
Admire the architecture of the greatest historical market hall of the world. There are hundreds of food vendors and souvenir shops. If you wish you we can spend enough time on shopping or tasting some typical Hungarian market snack.

Pass By: Hungarian National Museum.

Pass By: Deak Ferenc Square.

7th Stop: Buda Castle.
We will cross the river Danube and get to the Castle of Buda from where you will see the most beautiful panoramic view of the city. The Castle Quarter is the oldest district of Budapest plenty of cute Medieval dwelling houses.

8th Stop: Fisherman's Bastion.

9th Stop: Matthias Church.
We will walk around the beautiful Matthias Church built in the Middle Ages in Gothic style. Upon request it is possible to visit it inside with your tour guide. The inside visit takes about 30 minutes and includes all the rich artworks as well as a small historical exhibition on the upper floor.
The church is closed on Sunday mornings during religious service, and sometimes on Saturdays due to wedding ceremonies.

Pass By: Szechenyi Chain Bridge.


10th Stop: Heroes' Square.
Walk through the impressive Heroes' Square, the largest square in Budapest. In the middle of the square you find the Millennium Monument, while on its two sides you will see the Arts Hall and the Fine Arts Museum.

11th Stop: Millenium Monument.
Visit the Millennium Monument, commemorating 1000 years of Hungarian history. In front of the monument you will find the grave of the unknown heroes, while in the colonnades around you can admire the statues of the greatest kings and leaders of the country. 

12th Stop: Vajdahunyad Castle.
Explore Budapest City Park, the oldest public park in the world. Walk over a bridge to reach an island on the lake, home to the romantic Vajdahunyad Castle. All around the courtyard there are copies of buildings representing different periods and styles of Hungarian architecture.

13th Stop: Anonymous' Statue.
In the inner courtyard of the castle you will discover the interesting statue of Anonymus, the first history writer of Hungary who lived in the 12th century. 

14th Stop: Szechenyi Baths and Pool.
You will pass by the main building of the famous Szechenyi Baths, the largest thermal bath of Europe. Through the windows you will be able to see the outdoor pools and people swimming in the warm water.

Pass By: Andrassy Avenue.

15th Stop (Final Stop): Hungarian State Opera House.
One of the most beautiful opera theatres of the world. You will learn about its interesting history, architecture and rich artworks.
